Officials Seize Potentially Hazardous Toys At Port Authority of NY/NJ

Officials with the Federal Customs and Border Protection (CBP) and the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) recently seized shipments of potentially hazardous toys, NJToday reported.

Last month, CBP officers intercepted two shipments arriving from China of toy dolls, cosmetic sets, fire trucks and tractors that included excessive amounts of lead and potential choking hazards.  These are violations of the Consumer Product Safety Act and the Federal Hazardous Substances Act, which prohibit lead in paint in children’s toys.  CBP seized hundreds of toys, valued at over $11,000.
